Details: Died of wounds received in action whilst flying the previous day. 22nd August 1917. Age 23. Son of Joseph Shield Nicholson (Prof. Edin. Univ.) and Jeanie Walmsley Nicholson of 3 Belford Park Edinburgh. He brought his wounded observer and his aeroplane back to the aerodrome. XVI. A. 10.
