Details: Killed in action at La Folie Wood 27th November 1917. Age 22. Son of Walter John and Ethel Matilda Coltman of Johannesburg South Africa. Born in London. Educated at King Edward's School Johannesburg Potchefstroom Agricultural College and Emmanuel College Cambridge in each of which institutions he gained scholarships. Passed Natural Science Tripos with double honours before joining the Army and gained further scholarships which he did not live to take advantage of. Previously wounded at Ypres in July 1917.
