Details: 13th October 1915. Age 20. Son of Mr. W. R. and Mrs. J. C. Sorley of St. Giles' Chesterton Lane Cambridge. Sorley was educated at Marlborough and won a scholarship to University College Oxford. He enlisted in August 1914 and soon found himself in the trenches; he made Captain in August 1915. Sorley was killed in action at Loos in October of the same year. His 'Marlborough and Other Poems' was published in 1916 and ran into four editions. It was said that Sorley had a real gift for rhyming. Panel 37 and 38.
