16/03/45 Age 25 IV. F. 11. Son of Martin Michael and Marie Howell; husband of Deborah Howell, of Upshire, Essex. B.Sc. Eng. 

Lt Michael Howell was actually Lt Eli Rosenbluth, a Jewish refugee who was interned in UK, and shipped to Australia on the notorious 'Dunera' prison ship and then returned to UK to the Pioneer Corps. He then joined REME,  but was KIA in 1945 and buried in Naples with no religious symbol on his CWGC headstone. His father Martin Rosenbluth was a high official (Secretary) of the Jewish Agency for Palestine.
